Over And

Temporarily entombed in a vault, this work stands proudly to attention under an interrogative illumination. Five stilt-like appendages rise and spiral at their respective zeniths before coalescing into a central spinal column. This tapers down to a sphere on the floor, cast as a chocolate dusted truffle.

Whilst eschewing easy taxonomical classification, neither obviously insectoid, arachnid nor sauropod, there is nonetheless a vertebrate fossilised austerity to the filament-esque form. The ball, contrasting in texture to the weathered central strands, presents numerous interpretations from anchor to constraint to consciousness.

The physical parsimony of the work allows the distinctive surroundings to make their own contribution - a liberation from the standard 'White Cube' presentation. The railings of the background merging in a satisfying way with the shadows cast.
