I play a bansuri derivative made of carbon fibre. This has a greater tolerance of atmospheric extremes and allows for superior tonal control whilst retaining a bamboo-like timbre.
Building upon the work of my late guru Pandit Clive Bell, I am developing a flute aesthetic based upon the sovreignty of Raga with other expressive concerns subservient to that goal.
Recordings are in the Dagar Dhrupad style - a minimalist and cerebral gharana that dates back many centuries.
